Gas Cartridge Technology
The IQAir® GCX MultiGas uses four filter cartridges which holds 22 lbs. of gas phase media consisting of Granulated Activated Carbon and Impregnated Alumina. The cylindrical shape of these cartridges allows for optimum contact between the air and gas phase media, which ensure high removal efficiencies. The large surface area of the cartridges enables high air flow rates. Since IQAir gas filter cartridges are reusable, replacing them is not only economical, but also environmentally friendly.
High-Efficiency Particulate Filtration
The particulate filtration of the IQAir® GCX MultiGas complements the gaseous filtration process by removing over 97% of particles before they can reach the gas phase media. This increases the efficiency and life of the media by preventing its pores from clogging. The GCX units' overall filtration efficiency for particles is greater than 99% at .3 microns. The post filter is electrostatically charged to trap particulate pollutants and microorganisms (bacteria and viruses).
EN 1822 Tested & Certified
Released in the year 2000, EN 1822 is the world's most advanced and stringent air filter standard for HEPA filters. IQAir's HyperHEPA™ filter elements are currently the world's first filters in an air cleaner to have been type-tested inside the IQAir housing by an independent filter testing laboratory (Filtech Laboratories, Switzerland). Many hospitals, laboratories and high-tech manufacturers, such as Intel®, already require their filter suppliers to supply them with EN 1822 certification. It is this basis for IQAir’s ability to capture up to 100 times more particles than conventional HEPA cleaners. IQAir therefore has the distinction of producing one of the world’s most efficient HEPA air purifiers in its class.
Certified Performance
In an industry where most air purifiers do not actually meet their manufacturers’ claims, IQAir tests and certifies each and every IQAir GCX MultiGas. Each IQAir GCX MultiGas is tested for particle filtration efficiency, filter leakage and air delivery. Each IQAir GCX MultiGas comes with its very own two-page Certificate of Performance, detailing the test results for that specific machine, which an IQAir team member fills out by hand.
Triple Seal Design
The efficiency stated for most air cleaners is purely theoretical. Internal leakage drastically reduces the actual efficiency of most air cleaners. However, IQAir systems feature patented triple sealing technology. First, a unique process ensures that the filter media is 100% sealed in the filter frame. Second, our patented 3D UltraSeal ensures perfect sealing between filter frame and housing. Third, individual seals on each housing module ensure an air tight housing. As a result, IQAir® systems have an actual system efficiency which is higher than the theoretical efficiency of conventional air cleaners.
