Although it can be relieving to get a breath of fresh air once in awhile, it's not always possible - especially in the event of an ozone alert. Recently, the Mid-America Regional Council Air Quality Program issued an ozone warning for Eastern Jackson County in Missouri.
The alert was released after officials predicted dangerous levels of air pollution for July 11 in the region, according to The Examiner. Smog in the Kansas City region is not uncommon, but it can cause breathing complications when summer heat traps it at ground-level.
During ozone alerts, individuals are advised to postpone all of their outdoor activities until the warning is lifted. Air pollution can be especially dangerous to individuals who suffer from respiratory conditions such as asthma. Small children and elderly adults are also at risk of health complications during ozone alerts.
Individuals who want to breathe easier may want to consider purchasing an air purifier. The IQAir HealthPro Plus system contains a HyperHEPA filter that can be especially helpful to those with allergies and asthma.
The filter can remove ultrafine particles smaller than 0.3 microns in size from up to 900 square feet. The IQAir HealthPro Plus may also eliminate bacteria that can cause illness.
