EPA faces budget cut in 2011

The Clean Air Act has kept pollutants from damaging the ozone layer at an alarming rate, but environmental advocates' efforts may be hindered in the near future, according to Bloomberg News. The Environmental Protection Agency's budget is expected to be cut by nearly 16 percent. This will amount to approximately $1.6 billion as a result of a deal with President Obama in the government's attempt to save money in the 2011 fiscal year.

"A $1.6 billion cut coming just at the time the EPA is finally waking up and starting to adopt basic safeguards is going to have a significant impact," Gabe Wisniewski, coal campaign director for the environmental group Greenpeace, told the news source.

Americans who live with respiratory conditions, such as asthma, suffer extensively from pollution. Air purifiers can be used to help individuals breathe easily indoors.

The IQAir HealthPro Plus air purifier is one device that can reduce the amount of harmful pollutants present in the air with its HyperHEPA filter. The product is designed to trap microscopic particles that are responsible for allergic reactions and asthma attacks in living spaces.
